New Rule Change Exclusively for Teens that have won
an "idol"program at their school, city or other location.

We have reviewed our rules based on a conflict of interest that was presented to us by a couple of
parents in previous seasons.  We have determined as of March 1st, 2015, that we are going to
allow winners to compete if they agree to certain provisions.

Any former "idol" or talent contest winner can NOT compete, if the result of their win, included a tour
of 3 or more performances in public as part of that tour or including more than 10 hours of
coaching by a voice coach or professional musician as part of their participation in the contest.

This is the reason we exclude our own finalists from trying out again if they didn't win. Because, as
the city prior to our acquisition felt, students that are able to perform in public in a tour or get
significant support from a body, it creates an unfair advantage for the Teen Idol program that has
been traditionally for inexperienced students to have a chance to succeed whereas they may not
have the chance to grow, if competing against season or expert performers.

Students of some specialty schools may qualify as long as they do not perform in public, outside of
their school activities.  Example choir would likely be great.  School Of Rock may have students that
have performed in public enough to disqualify them from competing as it may give them an
experience edge over other students.   Future plans are in the works for teens that fall in the more
experienced bucket, but not in 2015.

IF, you won an idol program such as one at your school, Hillsboro Teen Idol or other contest, with
or without the word "idol" in it, and your participation was a series of auditions without a tour or 10
hours or more of coaching as part of the program, you likely will qualify under this revised rule.

HOWEVER

Any contestant as part of your application agreement, is required to promote his or her title, if any,
at any and all performances ran, sanctioned, sponsored, created, arranged or in any way
associated with Teen Idol, to use their Teen Idol title over any other title acquired during their Tour
season (Date of finale to October 31st).  Between Nov 1st and the date of the next season's finale,
you may use any other title you would like in conjunction with your Teen Idol title at a Teen Idol
associated event.

During your Season tour through Oct. 31st, if you are asked to perform for the organization, city,
parks, school etc where you acquired that other title, you are allowed to use it.  If Teen Idol is part of
it in any way, you would then need to include your title with us.  This prevents conflict of interest.

You, like any other finalist if you should make it to that rank, are free to find, arrange and perform as
a Teen Idol finalist on your own such as for your school, church, birthdays, national anthem at
events etc however, all performances where Teen Idol is mentioned should be communicated to
Teen Idol to notate the use (just email to PerformanceInfo@TeenIdol.org noting the date, time and
event name.

You do not need permission to perform unless you did not complete your contractual agreed
number of performances during your competition year.  This may allow you to finally fufill that
obligation.  Students that are finalists that did not go on tour, unless other wise informed, forfeit
their titles and are not eligible to perform or claim being finalists of Teen Idol or Portland Teen Idol
without pre-approval by an executive producer or director - you may be required to fulfill your tour
obligation prior to being granted that approval.
